The word course has several meanings:
- course in Medicine is also the speed of evolution of a disease. Diseases can have an acute, a subacute or a chronic course
- in architecture, a course is a continuous horizontal layer of similarly-sized building material, such as stone or brick, in a wall
- a string course is a continuous narrow horizontal course or moulding which projects slightly from the surface of a wall
- a course is a pair of adjacent strings tuned to unison or an octave and usually plucked together as if a single string, in musical instruments such as the lute and vihuela.
