Johnson Bible College is a private Bible college located six miles southeast of Knoxville, Tennessee. It was founded in 1893 by Ashley S. Johnson as The School of the Evangelists. It is the second oldest continuing Bible College in the United States, and is the oldest Bible College affiliated with the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. There are about 25 faculty members, and approximately 1,000 students, having nearly doubled in student population in the last decade.

Johnson Bible College first received school accreditation in 1979 when it became an accredited member of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.^* It also has ABHE accreditation.

To accompany the growth, there is an increasing number of majors offered. As a Bible college, each student is required to major in Bible, with a second major (Elementary Education) or specialty (Preaching, Youth Ministry) to accompany. The preaching program remains the most popular, just as it was the college's first offering. Youth ministry, counseling, music, media, elementary education, middle school education, ESL (English as a Second Language) Education, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, missions, and graduate programs in marriage and family counseling, holisitc education, educational technology, and New Testament round out the offerings. There is also an honors program which offers majors in history, English, and apologetics.
