Technology is a word with origins in the Greek word technologia (τεχνολογία), techne (τέχνη) "craft" and logia (λογία) "saying." It is a broad term dealing with the use and knowledge of humanity's tools and crafts.
Definition of technology
Technology can be most broadly defined as the material entities created by the application of mental and physical effort to nature in order to achieve some value. In this use, technology is the current state of our knowledge of how to combine resources to produce desired products, to solve problems, fulfill needs, or satisfy wants. Technology in this sense includes technical methods, skills, processes, techniques, tools and raw materials (for example, in such uses as computer technology, construction technology, or medical technology). College of Technology - Specialized curriculum that allows a student to begin technology or engineering technology studies at any of the state's community colleges with the goal of achieving a four-year baccalaureate degree at the University of Connecticut, Central Connecticut State University, the University of Hartford or Charter Oak College.
Engineering Science Pathway Degree Program - Consists primarily of coursework in engineering, mathematics and the sciences. Prepares student for entry into the University of Connecticut School of Engineering or the University of Hartford College of Engineering.
Technology Studies Pathway Degree Program - Consists of courses which provide for a Bacherlor of Science degree from Charter Oak College with a concentration in technology or from Central Connecticut State University.
