Sacred Heart University is a Catholic university located in suburban Fairfield, Connecticut, along the border of Bridgeport and Trumbull. Sacred Heart was founded in 1963 by Reverend Walter W. Curtis, Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT. SHU was the first Catholic university in the United States to be staffed by the laity.
Sacred Heart University is known for its strong musical roots, and is well known for the Pioneer Bands. SHU is the second largest Catholic university in New England.
Sacred Heart offers a wide variety of majors in all areas as well as numerous clubs and organizations. They have numerous on and off campus residence halls and are an ever expanding school.
